Mortal Kombat? The ultimate workout song!

If you've heard this song, you're certain not to forget it!

The MK franchise has been around for as long as I can remember, literally... since 1992, starting off as an arcade game and later being picked up to be made into a console game. Since the first game was created with 2-D style fighting and only 8 characters to choose from, the series has developed all the way up to Mortal Kombat 9 with over 30 characters to choose from plus the addition of 3-D style fighting. The series has also introduced three different spin-off games in the series that were more action/adventure oriented:  Mortal Kombat Mythologies: Sub-Zero, following the story of the first incarnation of Sub-Zero, Mortal Kombat: Special Forces, following the story of Jax in his mission to destroy the Black Dragon, Mortal Kombat: Shaolin Monks, following Liu Kang and Kung Lao. Another game called Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe was also released that chronicled the merging of the two universes and the heroes that came together to restore the balance.

The Mortal Kombat series of games were playable on many systems including Super Nintendo, Sega Genisis, Nintendo Gamecube, Wii, DS, Gameboy Advanced, Sony PS, PS2, PSP, and PS3, Macintosh Xbox and Xbox 360.

Mortal Kombat vs. DC Universe

MK reboot

In 2009, Midway games went bankrupt and Warner Bros. picked up the MK franchise which allowed them to add the infamous DC characters to their roster in the new game as well as make their very own MK reboot, technically the ninth game, and throw in a character from the acclaimed video game series, God of War. The spartan warrior, Kratos.

Along with video games, there have also been two movies created based off the first two games of the series. Mortal Kombat and Mortal Kombat: Annihilation. A short was made this past year to try and continue the series of movies, but it didn't work out too well.

All in all, I believe that Mortal Kombat is a great concept and the storyline is unbelievable. I suggest you check out the games and the two movies. The games offer smooth gameplay and the movies are entertaining. I grew up with this idea of Mortal Kombat and, for those of you that don't know about it, it is pretty awesome! They have a large roster of characters so that you'll never get bored! That is kind of what you have to do with fighting games or else I don't think you could get away with making nine of them!
