Drugs make you smarter???

Over this past weekend, I saw this movie at the AMC in Rancho Cucamonga at the Victoria Gardens. First of all, if you want to know how the movie theatre was, it was very clean! I highly recommend it! I'm actually here to talk about the movie in general. I'm not going to give anything away that already isn't by the movie trailers, but here is a summary just in case you don't understand the trailers.

Basically,  the story focuses around this guy (Bradley Cooper), an author who happens to hit a bit of a "writer's block" sort of thing. His ex wife's brother runs into him in New York City and introduces him to a pill, which he gives him free of charge! Who does that? No one gives away drugs for free! Especially $800 drugs! Back to the story, Bradley Cooper takes the drug and suddenly is able to access all 100% of his brain! In fact, in the first scene after he takes it, he notices the corner of a book hanging out of a woman's bag and instantly knows what book it is. Since he had seen it sometime in his past, his brain was able to tell him where he had seen it before and what book it was! Crazy, right? The useless information stored in his brain was now accessible anytime!

Robert Di Niro also plays a character in this movie that is the head of some kind of energy company. Not just any energy company, but a really big one! De Niro hires Cooper to oversee a merger that's going to happen between his company and a similarly bigger one. Basically, this drug is like any other drug: You have to keep taking it or you'll start going through withdrawals. There is actually a point in the movie where he loses his drug and almost dies!

It's cool as well because at the beginning of the movie, Cooper is standing on an edge about to commit suicide and it flashes back to the whole story that I just described. There is something about movies like that. It's kind of like a slap in the face to think that everything is going perfectly for this guy and then all of a sudden, his life comes crashing down! Literally! Onto the pavement of New York City!

This movie is a real treat and I highly suggest that you all see it! Not a movie for the kiddies, but young teens and adults should thorougly enjoy it! It's PG-13 and it references sex, drug use, and foul language. I wonder how the movie industry gets away with making a film like this PG-13... I guess because there is no nudity. Let's be real though, nudity is a natural thing whereas drug use is not. The world is ridiculous sometimes...

Any comments or suggestions ya'll have? Seen the movie? Liked it? Hated it? Tell me your opinion! I am curious!
